We are seeking to appoint a Careers & Placement Co-ordinator to work within our careers team. The successful candidate will provide advice and guidance on future careers, employment and education opportunities and to assist students in finding and maintaining established work placements, as well as setting up new placement opportunities in the local area. Applicants will need to liaise with students, parents and local businesses to ensure that placements are purposeful and develop students' employability skills, alongside their Education, Health and Care plan.
Job Responsibility:
Provide information, advice and guidance about careers, employment, volunteering, and educational opportunities to support individuals to identify their education and career goals, and understand the requirements to achieve them
Produce careers toolkits and resources that will help individuals understand what options are available and suitable for them
Utilise defined frameworks, such as Employability Framework, to contribute to assessment of pupil development and progress against their Personal Learning Plan
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with teachers and staff members to ensure a coordinated approach to support that maximises outcomes for individuals
Contact local employers and arrange meetings to promote the work placement programme, develop positive relationships, and identify opportunities for workplace activities and placements
Communicate and co-ordinate with staff in a work placement setting to ensure they understand emergency escalation procedures, objectives for student outcomes and how to access assistance to ensure they are effective and develop student skills in a managed way
Maintain and monitor databases of work and voluntary placements to ensure all information is accurate and available in-line with BCP Council policies and processes
Requirements:
Understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their impact on learning and behaviour
Knowledge of employability skills in the context of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Experience of working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs and their EHCP's
Experience of advocating a programme and building relationships with external partners
Ability to establish positive, productive working relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues, businesses, and other professionals
Ability to motivate and engage pupils through their strengths and interests
Ability to plan and organise own workload and respond to reactive issues
Full driving licence and hold business insurance for this purpose
