This specialised SEN teacher position focuses on careers & workskills, providing exceptional education to children and young individuals navigating emotional regulation, social communication, and sensory processing difficulties frequently linked with autism.
Job Responsibility
To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, with particular focus on our careers and work skills curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure holistic student support.
To maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum effectively.
To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual student.
To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, and senior staff through identified meetings and reports.
To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on outcomes to foster independence in students.
To contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge while managing challenging behaviours in a non-confrontational way.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Experience in special school settings, particularly with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Proven ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum to meet diverse learning needs.
An understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks and an ability to integrate this into the curriculum.
Strong knowledge of the national curriculum.
Working understanding of ASC and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including complex presentations.

Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check.
Nice to have
Additional qualifications in SEN and experience within an environment teaching, supporting and nurturing those with autism.
Understanding of co-occurring conditions associated with autism and their impact on learning.
A guiding and can-do approach towards developing pupils' career and employability skills.
