The Care Team Assistant supports healthcare providers, nurses, and medical assistants in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This entry-level role focuses on basic clinical functions and patient support, contributing to efficient care team operations and an excellent patient experience. Job Responsibility

  • Support providers, nurses, and medical assistants with daily patient care activities
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • ensure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms and assist with patient flow
  • Obtain and document basic vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, blood pressure) as directed
  • Assist with patient intake, including updating demographic and medical information in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Perform basic medical procedures (such as administering EKGs), with appropriate training
  • Assist with basic lab procedures, specimen handling, or point-of-care testing under supervision
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical and common areas
  • Follow all safety, infection control, and confidentiality protocols (including HIPAA compliance)
  • Support care team coordination by preparing materials for patient visits and follow-ups

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Interest in healthcare or prior experience in a medical or community health setting
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology is a plus
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software and electronic medical record software
  • Availability to work evenings until 9 p.m. and occasionally Saturday morning
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel independently between sites

Nice to have

Some advanced training/college courses in Allied Health, Science, Medical Assisting, or other healthcare-related field
