Job Description:

Casual Care Assistant role at Harry Sotnick House, a 92 bed nursing home. The role involves providing person-centred care to residents, including those with dementia and physical disabilities, ensuring their daily living needs are met and promoting their mental wellbeing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of service users using a person-centred approach
  • Provide personal care
  • Assist clients at mealtimes and all aspects of daily living
  • Provide person centred care in the form of social activities which promotes the resident's mental health and wellbeing
  • As a key worker, ensure information about service users' health and wellbeing is recorded on daily record sheets and communicated to assistant managers
  • Ensure monitoring and hourly checks with detailed recording on daily record sheets are carried out on residents
  • Look after the needs of a diverse group of service users with a wide range of care needs, including challenging behaviour
  • Perform person moving and handling duties
  • Perform light food preparation

Requirements:

  • Patience and empathy
  • Understanding of the needs of people with different types of dementia and physical disabilities
  • Ability to converse at ease with service users with cognitive impairment and provide advice in accurate spoken English
  • Experience in a caring role as a formal paid or unpaid carer
  • Understanding of the importance of resident’s dignity, privacy and choice, and applying this in practice
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Able to work in a team as well as being able to work independently
  • Able to use your own initiative and make decisions
  • Able to deal with emergencies in a confident manner
  • Computer skills to update care records and use e-learning
  • Required to take part in training and development and undertake learning to complete the Care Certificate
