Job Description

Care Assistant role with Advantage Healthcare Limited, part of City & County Healthcare Group, delivering care to a child in Lewisham.

Job Responsibility

  • Be a part of a special care team delivering care to our client who is a delightful child and support him to reach his full potential
  • Monitoring the client's tracheostomy and carrying out suctioning when needed
  • Ensuring all emergency equipment is available and checked
  • Provide full supervision while he attends school
  • Support communication using Makaton and visual cues
  • Assist with feeding his parent-prepared pureed meals while monitoring closely for choking or aspiration
  • Provide personal care
  • Oversee bowel movement monitoring
  • Maintain a calm, structured environment to support his ASD needs
  • Ensuring equipment such as the blue box and suction machine are ready
  • Provide stimulating activities to prevent boredom
  • Monitor skin integrity
  • Liaise with school staff to maintain consistency and safety throughout the day

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a complex care setting
  • Tracheostomy & gastrostomy care
  • Administering medication
  • Using suction machines
  • Challenging behaviour in paediatrics
