Job Description

Prime Life are on the lookout for passionate and dedicated care professionals to join our friendly team as a Care Assistant. At present, we have several vacancies available and are keen to meet with candidates as soon as possible for interviews. This role will be based at Loran House Care Home, in Hull. The home has been specially designed to cater to the every need of 46 residents, living with a range of age related, physical and mental health conditions that require dignified support from our caring team. The home provides a unique reablement service within the local community and supports individuals with short stay respite care following their discharge from hospitals, to ensure a safe return home once rehabilitated. It is essential that candidates for this role are patient, understanding and respectful of our resident’s individual abilities to maximise and promote their independence.

Job Responsibility

  • Assisting residents with personal hygiene and retiring to bed
  • Completing routine welfare checks throughout the night
  • Supporting residents to dine and maintain good nutrition and hydration
  • Encouraging residents to mobilise safely around the home
  • Providing friendship and companionship
  • Maintaining accurate written records
  • Being part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Welcoming family members and assisting with enquiries

  • Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting clients when required, with washing, toileting, dressing, undressing and all other aspects of daily living
  • Assist clients in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual)

  • Pay particular attention to assisting clients who have limited mobility, or physical / learning difficulties, making the best use of aids provided
  • Closely monitor clients who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems
  • Assist in the promotion of continence
  • Assist in the delivery of care for clients who are dying or who have a progressive illness. Assist with last offices
  • Observe care planning needs for clients and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the company’s policies and procedures
  • Assist in a framework of social activities by interacting with clients and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the care home
  • Answer nurse call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly and pass on messages promptly
