Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Surgical Technologist (Peds)

• Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures in the cardiovascular operating room
• Provides age and developmental appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents or adults
• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments
• Travels outside the OR suite to assist with placing adult & pediatric patients on ECMO or other mechanical assist device
• First scrub adult & pediatric complex vascular and cardiovascular procedures including transplants
• Demonstrates proper sterile technique during procedure
• Handoff to other crew members
• Demonstrates accuracy and appropriate handling, labeling, and hand off to nurse of all specimens and cultures according to MHS policy
• Verifies name of specimen with Physician
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients
• Assist with appropriate instruments to physician during surgery
• Assures accountability for proper counts of instruments and supplies during surgery
• Maintains sterile fields to prevent site infections

• Accredited Program: Surgical Technologist (Required)
• BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association
• One (1) year of Cardiac/Vascular OR experience required (Memorial Regional Hospital)
• One (1) year of Surgical Technician experience required (Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital)
• CVOR experience preferred
