Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA

• Coordinate, provide, and assist in providing comprehensive quality patient care to the Cardiothoracic patients in collaboration with a supervising physician
• Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and consultation in collaboration with a supervising physician
• Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served
• Work independently and efficiently with strong decision-making skills
• Work with a variety of MDs, APPs and ancillary staff for inpatient management and coordination of patient care
• Work in the inpatient setting on a daylight rotating four, 10-hour shift schedule with rotating weekend coverage
• Anticipate to work 1 weekend every 3-4 weeks
• Perform procedures, including bedside talc pleurodesis, autologous blood patch, TPA instillation, chest tube removal, pericardial drain removal, and wound vac placements

• Graduated from an accredited NP or PA program
• Maintain a current license to practice as an NP or PA in North Carolina
• Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required
• BLS/ACLS Certified
• Physician Assistants: certification from the NCCPA required
• Nurse Practitioners: Acute Care NP Certification required
• Experience in cardiology, cardiothoracic or vascular surgery preferred
