Job Description:

As our Cardiology Technician, you will perform all electrocardiograms and related tests according to specifically defined procedures for use in the diagnosis of heart disorders. Every day you will execute a range of cardiology tests under the general direction of the manager, and carry out related duties as assigned by the Director/Manager of the Cardiology Department, contributing directly to patient diagnosis. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong technical proficiency in performing EKGs and associated tests, and a proactive approach to supporting the diagnostic efforts of the department, all while adhering to established protocols and contributing to efficient operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform all electrocardiograms and related tests according to specifically defined procedures for use in the diagnosis of heart disorders
  • Execute a range of cardiology tests under the general direction of the manager
  • Carry out related duties as assigned by the Director/Manager of the Cardiology Department
  • Perform diagnostic procedures: 12-Lead electrocardiography (Adult, Pediatric), Signal Averaged Electrocardiography, Ambulatory (Holter) monitoring (Hook up and patient instruction, Scanning procedure), Event Recorder (Hook-up and patient instruction, Receiving station), Cardiovascular Stress Testing: Treadmill and Pharmacological (Patient preparation, System operation, Protocols), Tilt Table (Patient preparation, System operation), Pacemaker analysis (Patient instruction, Recognition of pacemaker type, Recognition of sensing and capture, Magnet mode operations)
  • Perform edit functions on Cardiac Information System (MUSE): Downloads cart and modem information, Confirms and/or edit demographic information, Distributes tracings and provides billing information to reader, Edits report to reflect physician interpretation, Distributes completed data to originating entity
  • Carry out responsibilities appropriate to the established test and clerical procedures: Complies with procedures for the identification of test, maintenance of cardiac files and patient's charts, Participates in clerical and reception activities, Complies with procedure for the maintenance and inventory of supplies, medication and equipment, Maintains a safe and orderly work area, Maintains a surveillance of environmental conditions within the Cardiology Department, Follows established safety, emergency and infections control policies and procedures, Displays appropriate attitude and behavior, Complies with ethical and legal responsibilities and restrictions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by Director/Manager as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • A course in the physical sciences or electrocardiography
  • Minimum one year experience performing or monitoring electrocardiograms under direct supervision
  • AHA Basic Life Support - CPR
  • Fire Safety, within 90 Days
