Job Description:

SHVI is looking for a full time Cardiology NP or PA to provide quality care to the patients we serve in the Charlotte community. This APP role will provide urgent cardiovascular care services to complex cardiovascular patients with many disease processes. This may include complex hospital follow-ups, 72 hours ED-Chest pain pathway follow-up, same-day add-on slots for patient access and support of patients that need close outpatient follow-up.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide urgent cardiovascular care services to complex cardiovascular patients
  • Evaluate, assess, and manage cardiology patients in the OP setting
  • Serve as support for nursing led patient triage and high-risk EKG or testing assessment
  • Take medical history, assess medical condition(s) of patients, and interpret medical findings, labs, and test results
  • Order appropriate interventions, diagnostic tests, and medications
  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards
  • Implement effective communication skills with both patients and colleagues
  • React calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Practice in the outpatient setting providing autonomous and quality care
  • Evaluate new patients, consults and established patients
  • Diagnose, treat and manage common conditions in the cardiovascular population
  • Perform an appropriate history and physical exam
  • Facilitate and order diagnostic studies including echocardiograms, stress tests, MRIs, CTs, and cardiac catheterization if indicated
  • Order appropriate laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures
  • Explain necessity, preparation, and risks and benefits of scheduled diagnostics and therapeutic procedures to the patient and family
  • Recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately
  • Participate in evaluations with the primary supervising physician
  • Maintain BLS and ACLS certification as well as all licenses and certifications
  • Exhibit respect for others by displaying a positive, courteous attitude
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education for job related growth

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program
  • Current license to practice as a NP or PA in North Carolina
  • Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required
  • BLS/ACLS Certified
  • Nurse practitioners should have Family Practice NP or Adult NP Certification
  • Physician Assistants with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required
  • 1+ Years of experience, Cardiology preferred
