American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD)
Adult Echocardiography: One (1) year of experience working in an IAC accredited institution or credentialed new grads (within 1 year of graduation)
Pediatric Echocardiography: One (1) year of experience imaging congenital heart defect and surgical repairs in an IAC accredited institution or new grads (within 1 year of graduation)
Must obtain credential within six (6) months of starting the position
Appropriate credential in Echocardiography: Registered as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) (AE) from ARDMS, Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by CCI, Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) from CCI
Pediatric Echocardiography: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) from ARDMS, Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) from CCI

Job Responsibility

May have to travel to satellite locations to perform diagnostic procedures
When ordered, prepares and administers ultrasound enhancing agents (UEA) and/or medications within scope of practice
Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes in status as thorough comprehensive preliminary report of study data to Physician staff
Reviews patient history and physician's orders
Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
Prepares equipment and supplies
Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters
Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment
Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary
Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
