Registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI
At least five years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting
A minimum of two years nursing experience in nursing management
A recognised post-registration nursing course - Higher Diploma or Post Grad course, in a relevant nursing discipline or be in pursuit of same

Job Responsibility

Liaises with consultants, secretaries and bookings office in relation to planning and management of lists
Communicates effectively with multidisciplinary colleagues, particularly cardiac physiologists and radiographers
Represents the Cath Lab at relevant meetings as required, in the absence of the CNM2
Supervises and trains junior staff in conjunction with the CNM2
Monitors the performance of Cath Lab staff nurses and acts appropriately, reporting to the CNM2 if a situation requires
Displays knowledge of stocks and stores management, bearing in mind the importance of cost effectiveness
Deals appropriately and courteously with sales and company reps who may visit the lab at a pre-arranged time
Takes over the day to day management of the Cath Lab when the CNM2 is away, communicating with the Nursing Supervisors as appropriate
Promotes quality and improvement at all times
Displays knowledge of departmental KPIs. The CNM1 must help ensure that targets are met. This involves supervision, encouragement and education of other staff members

Job Responsibility

Produce diagnostic images
Perform imaging examinations (X-rays, ultrasound, diagnostic fluoroscopy, CT/CAT scans, MRIs)
Contribute to positive patient experience
Assist with pre-procedure education and preparing patient
Collaborate with other staff to assure patient understanding
Assure patient is positioned properly
Assure EKG electrodes are properly placed
Assure skin is prepped and sterilized
Set up patient and sterile equipment
Scrub and assist physicians during procedures

CORU registered
Have a recognised post graduate course or be in pursuit of same
Minimum of four years’ experience in general x-ray in an acute hospital setting

Thorough understanding of legislation relating to Radiation Safety

Job Responsibility

Manage the general radiographers in the fields of x-ray, fluoroscopy and the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory
Ensure staff comply with all relevant policies and protocols
Ensure procedures and enquiries are carried out in an efficient, friendly and professional manner
Undertake all general x-ray procedures and maintain a highly specialist standard of technical skill, efficiency and patient care
Continually train, supervise and update the radiographic staff
