Job Responsibility

Obtains a patient history and perform a pre ultrasound procedure assessment
Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patients while they are under their care
Performs routine and complex cardiac ultrasound procedures including echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms including treadmill, Dobutamine echo and bicycle ergonometry
Demonstrates the ability to identify and evaluate the appropriate anatomical and physiological consequences that would be consistent with disease processes
Demonstrates both cognitive and psychomotor skill sets in the area of cardiovascular disease states
Organizes the acquired data in the appropriate sequence that will accurately represent the patient’s condition to the interpreting physician
In accordance with the departmental QI program, the sonographer must provide quality, constructive feedback on peer-to-peer case study review as assigned
Assists in maintaining efficient patient flow through the department
Responsible for completion of mandatory educational assignments as outlined by the departmental director
Participates in the education and training of sonographer students, residents, medical students and fellows

Job Responsibility

Performs all diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operates associated equipment, computers, and accessories in accordance with department standards and physician orders
Accurately assesses and responds to life-threatening conditions
Adapts readily to changes in work schedule and STAT exam requests
Troubleshoots equipment and cooperates with service personnel in order to maintain minimal down time
Initiates service calls on all equipment assigned to the area
Accurately processes daily charges for exams and supplies upon completion of work
Ensures rooms and equipment are maintained in accordance with departmental standards
Under the guidance of the Lead Technologist, coordinates technical tasks and manages patient flow, ensuring that all scans adhere to the quality standards defined by the Cardiologists
