Job Description

Cardiac Monitor Specialist provides continuous observation of monitored ECG patterns of patients on telemetry and reports significant information to appropriate nursing personnel; functions within a designated area in close observation in the monitoring of patients. Responsible for responding to all alarms detected, while working with a diverse care team. Is held accountable for policies and procedures of the department and organization. This position supports the mission, vision and philosophy of CommonSpirit.

Job Responsibility

  • Provides continuous observation of monitored ECG patterns of patients on telemetry and reports significant information to appropriate nursing personnel
  • functions within a designated area in close observation in the monitoring of patients
  • Responsible for responding to all alarms detected, while working with a diverse care team
  • Continuous observation of monitored ECG patterns and pulse oximetry as ordered
  • Sets up, calibrates and maintains settings and alarms on the telemetry module
  • Obtains rhythm strip at beginning of shift, on admission and whenever changes occur
  • Recognizes changes in rate, rhythm or pattern and obtains a documentary ECG strip
  • immediately reports all arrhythmias to the care team responsible for the patient in accordance with established protocols
  • Handles incoming and outgoing communications, answers questions and assists staff in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge of the technical operation and capabilities of the central monitoring station
  • Maintains alarm systems according to established protocols and responds appropriately to monitor alarms
  • Identifies/troubleshoots routine technical problems with the monitors and sends work orders

Requirements

  • High School Graduate, upon hire or High School GED, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days
