This is a 5 month role with strong possibility of extension. This role requires a designated, hands on professional with previous experience in oversight of capital financial accounting, internal controls, and capital project financial systems. This role is unique as you will be the subject matter expert and business owner for the capital projects portal, providing direction, training and functional support for current and future business needs. You will have full oversight of capital financial accounting, internal controls and compliance. This role encompasses 3 key areas including Capital Financial Accounting, Capital Cost Management and Project Administration.
Job Responsibility:
Oversight financial accounting for capital projects, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with organizational policies and GAAP standards
Review and approval of capital-related accounting transactions, including accounts payable, cost allocations, recoveries, and reconciliations
Insuring compliance with Ontario’s Construction Act
Direct testing, validation, and implementation of system changes in collaboration with ITS and operational teams
Supporting implementation of new or enhanced capital financial management solutions and assist users with issue resolution
Managing a team of AP staff
Requirements:
Extensive experience in capital financial accounting
Experience in construction accounting
Demonstrated experience with construction-related financial compliance, including Ontario’s Construction Act
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements
Proven experience acting as a system owner or subject matter expert for financial or capital project management systems
Hands on experience with approval of AP transactions in a multi-faceted environment
