The role of the Director of Capability is to assist the Vice President of Capability with developing and implementing strategies to enhance organizational capabilities, often focusing on areas like talent management, learning and development, and operational efficiency. Driving initiatives that improve employee performance, engagement, and overall organizational effectiveness. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate across different departments.
Job Responsibility:
Assist the Vice President of Capability with developing and implementing strategies to enhance organizational capabilities
Driving initiatives that improve employee performance, engagement, and overall organizational effectiveness
Play a crucial role in shaping the overall direction and performance of the organization
Contribute to strategic decision-making, drive organizational change, and ensure that the organization has the capabilities needed to achieve its goals
Develop and implement strategic plans to improve organizational capabilities aligned with overall business objectives
Oversee talent acquisition, development, and retention strategies to build a high-performing workforce
Lead the design and delivery of learning and development programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge
Manage organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and effective communication
Execute performance management systems and processes to drive individual and team performance
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness
Provide guidance and support to the capability teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, innovation, and high performance
Manage Capability Managers (CMs) including performance reviews and the establishment and tracking of objectives and Personal Development Plans (PDPs)
Requirements:
Degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Broad knowledge/experience across engineering and program services domains, including experience working with supporting teams (e.g., Human Resources, Finance, etc.)
Proven background of strategic planning and mapping strategy to tactical execution
Extensive team leadership skills and experience
Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare / brief presentations and engage personnel effectively at all levels of the organization
Motivational skills
Interviewing skills
Strong relationship-building
Eligible for a Canadian security clearance
Nice to have:
Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer
Detailed knowledge and experience in the operation of naval systems
Experience in the in-service support of naval systems and/or engineering design
