The role of the Volunteer encompasses two key areas of programming: communications and advocacy. This Volunteer position will provide additional technical and program support to the social advocacy and communications activities approved in the 2026/27 (Y3) annual workplan. The Volunteer will work closely with the Field Team and the two key implementing partners (SEND and NETRIGHT) to implement advocacy and communications activities as planned.
Job Responsibility:
Provide support to the Alinea Field office team and partners on Alinea International’s communications policies and compliance requirements, including media and press releases
Support the timely planning and coordination of advocacy products and delivery of activities ensuring quality and consistency of relevant and appropriate content
Participate in the planning, design and delivery of project communications and advocacy products for use in Ghana and in Canada
Adapt and update existing communications products for use with different stakeholders and for targeted purposes as the project evolves
Produce summary reports documenting project achievements, progress and key deliverables
Document lessons learned working closely with the MEL Director and MEL Specialist
Provide technical support to partners ensuring alignment with the UCARE project and broader Alinea communications standards and protocols
Provide support to partners to coordinate and align their advocacy programming with the broader scope and purpose of the UCARE project
Liaise with the technical team leads to ensure content is meets GESI criteria and MEL requirements
Support the Training and Capacity Development Coordinator with developing and producing specific products required for training (i.e. MMDAs)
Work with the UCARE Team (in Canada and Ghana) and partners to align advocacy plans and products with the UCARE project key messages and scope
Support development of content and channels for communications
Requirements:
A minimum of a Master’s degree in Communications and/or Journalism, Public Policy, Development Studies, Education, or other relevant discipline
Proven experience in: Gender and Social Inclusion and/or social/public policy analysis
communications design and production
social advocacy and policy development skills
Strong technical skills in designing communications products using Canva software
experience working in intercultural environments and with intercultural teams
program planning and/or project management skills
Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Ghana.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
