We are looking for an experienced Canadian Payroll Manager to oversee and manage payroll operations for our organization. This is a long-term contract position based in Chicago, Illinois, offering an opportunity to work with senior leadership while ensuring payroll compliance and accuracy. The role requires expertise in Canadian payroll processes, reconciliation, and statutory filings.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee and execute complete Canadian payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Prepare and manage Records of Employment (ROEs) while ensuring compliance with taxation requirements
  • Engage with Service Canada to address payroll-related issues and maintain proper documentation
  • Conduct detailed reconciliations for payroll accounts, including deductions and benefits
  • Support year-end activities such as filing T4s and other statutory payroll documents
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to provide payroll reports, insights, and solutions for inquiries
  • Work closely with auditors, including Big 4 firms, to ensure compliance and accurate reporting
  • Partner with retirement plan vendors like Manulife to manage retirement account processes
  • Utilize ADP Workforce Now for payroll administration and detailed reporting
  • Assist with payroll components related to equity compensation, with training provided as needed

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll management, with significant exposure to Canadian payroll
  • Expertise in full-cycle payroll processing and multi-state payroll operations
  • Proven ability to handle payroll for organizations with over 500 employees
  • Advanced proficiency with ADP Workforce Now for payroll administration
  • Strong skills in payroll reconciliation, statutory reporting, and compliance
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations and tax laws
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis
  • Experience working with auditors, particularly Big 4 firms, is highly advantageous
