Job Description

As the Camp Manager, you’re the torch of camp life—ensuring every detail runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest standard. Your role touches every part of the operation, from food service to facility maintenance and team leadership.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead all aspects of site operations including camp setup and takedown, equipment maintenance, consumables, safety, and administration
  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and operating efficiently
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring meals are delivered on time and meet food safety (HACCP) and portion standards
  • Work closely with the Chef on menu planning, inventory, and budgeting
  • Ensure commissary operations (where applicable) are efficient and well-stocked
  • Host daily meetings with department leads to align on staffing, scheduling, and client needs
  • Supervise and support kitchen and housing staff—train, coach, and mentor as needed
  • Conduct employee evaluations and manage performance to maintain a motivated and effective team
  • Foster a strong safety culture and ensure all team members follow hygiene, PPE, and provincial safety standards
  • Lead daily toolbox meetings and ensure safety documentation is completed and submitted promptly
  • Act as the site’s Health & Safety delegate when needed, including managing incident reports and investigations
  • Act as the key point of contact between the client, site staff, and Torch Industries Ltd.
  • Address client concerns promptly and professionally while maintaining service excellence
  • Keep communication open and clear with Head Office on all site matters
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports: daily site reports, inventory, meal logs, safety records, P&Ls, and more
  • Monitor and manage site budgets, inventory levels, and labor costs
  • Understand and meet KPIs for each contract and position
  • Maintain high standards across food, service, and facility operations
  • Regularly meet with Torch Industries leadership for performance reviews and operational planning
  • Help set and achieve company goals while keeping the site running at peak performance

Requirements

  • Secondary School
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing and leading staff
  • Remote Camp Experience is preferred
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Edmonton, AB before starting work

  • Ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner and submitted to the Operations Department as per the required timelines
  • Daily submission of Camp Manager reports such as P&L statements, commissary paperwork, purchasing and receiving, inventory, and kitchen reports. Also update camp numbers to ensure adequate qualified employees
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all camp-related employee paperwork including staff change forms, incident reports, performance management and evaluation forms, WCB forms (injury reporting package) and timesheets
  • Oversee the cleaning of accommodation units and equipment as per LandSea cleaning schedule and Food Safe standards
  • Facilitate safety meetings (using the Daily Toolbox Meeting form) on the 1st and 15th of each month, ensuring that all staff report accidents, safety concerns, and work hazards. Meeting minutes should be forwarded to LandSea Head Office
  • Ensure all food items are properly stored, served, and discarded as per HACCP and Food Safe standards
  • Counsel/coach employees as required and involve the Catering Recruitment team as necessary, to provide direction on disciplinary matters where appropriate
  • Oversee portioning of food items in accordance to client contract and Landsea Policies, Procedures and Best Practices to ensure food costs and product inventory are kept within budget
  • Ensure meal sheets are filled out neatly and accurately and ensure that the client and Chef sign each sheet
  • Submit client and third-party meal sheets each week including customer/client name, Camp number and location with legal land description number
