Job Description

Role : Calibration Engineer; Location: Columbus, IN; FTE ONLY

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the owner for all ECM CAN J1939 related diagnostics, including completing required testing and conducting phase reviews
  • Tune, calibrate, validate and test all the ECM CAN J1939 messages required for a given EBU On-Highway engine program to seamlessly integrate with OEM ECU controllers/Smart Aftertreatment sensors/Telematics etc
  • Investigate ECM communication CAN J1939 issues related to customers/OEMs, test vehicles, or test cells, understand root causes, and recommend effective solutions while documenting outcomes clearly

Requirements

  • Expertise in CAN J1939 communication protocol
  • Must be able to understand and interpret J1939 messaging
  • Basic understanding of how control system function
  • Strong understanding of ECU CAN J1939 communication diagnostic concepts and strategies
  • Proven background in embedded controls and CAN J1939 testing/validation
  • Understanding of control algorithm and calibration of engines parameters
  • Experience in coordination and collaborate with cross-functional teams, like system integration team, and software team
  • Experience in CAN, OBD, UDS Protocols
  • Experience in handling of OEM calibration tools
  • Expertise in C Programming language
  • Skilled in communication, presentation, documentation and teamwork

  • Identify software or controls deficiencies and submit issues through PRTS (Problem Tracking Resolution System) as appropriate
  • Validate diagnostic performance and robustness across SIL, HIL/ChIL, battery lab, and physical hardware environments to minimize false alarms while protecting safety and hardware
