Job Description
Cadastral Surveyor – Path to Leadership West Coast $90,000 – $150,000+ plus benefits, *relocation negotiable BRIEF A well-established surveying practice on the West Coast is building for the future and they want the right person to grow into it. This isn't just a job; it's a succession plan. Over the next 5–7 years, you'll be mentored, supported toward licensing (LCS), if you haven't already achieved licensing, and progressively handed the keys to leadership. The firm has deep roots in the region, a genuine cadastral focus, and a tight-knit team that takes real pride in their work. The West Coast is one of New Zealand's most underrated places to live, affordable housing in comparison to other bigger NZ centres, world-class outdoors on your doorstep, and a community that actually knows your name. If you've ever thought about trading the commute and cost of a main centre for something with better balance and a bigger future, this is worth a serious look. Relocation support can be discussed. WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU – A defined path to leadership, this is a genuine succession plan, not a vague promise – Full support to achieve LCS registration, including structured mentoring and study time – All training provided, they'll invest in you properly – The chance to eventually lead the survey operation – Small, high-trust team where your work is visible and your input matters – West Coast lifestyle: affordable, outdoorsy, balanced, a genuinely great place to live – Relocation assistance open to discussion for the right person NON-NEGOTIABLES – Bachelor of Surveying or NZ-recognised equivalent – Genuine passion for career growth – Genuine interest in being part of a small community – NZ work rights DESIRABLES – LCS Licensing or actively working toward it – 5+ years' cadastral and land surveying experience in NZ – Competent in Landonline and LINZ cadastral rules – Experience across rural, boundary, and title surveying – Comfortable working with autonomy in a smaller team environment – Any connection to or interest in regional/rural NZ communities NEXT STEPS We're 84 Recruitment, the only preferred recruitment partner of Survey & Spatial New Zealand. We know this role, we know this firm, and we can give you the full picture in confidence. If the West Coast lifestyle appeals and you're ready to build a role that's actually yours, let's talk!
