An exciting opportunity has arisen within one of JRL Group's key divisions; Trent Precast Concrete Ltd. The JRL Group is a highly successful, privately owned, national construction group head quartered in North London. With a turnover of in excess of £360m, the business is currently experiencing growth and as such seeks to strengthen our Precast team. Trent Precast specializes in the manufacture and delivery of structural precast concrete units based in the heart of the country in Nottingham. Role: CAD technician / production assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast growing innovative company which will give the successful candidate the chance to progress their career within the business.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinating within the fabrication team the issuing of Fabrication Drawings for our production machines
  • Nesting production of components for our machinery using .DXF, .STP and .SAT files
  • Input all the job specific information in our production software i.e. (Delivery dates, call offs, part number, etc.…)
  • Support the planning function, managing project delivery schedule at a detailed level through to construction phase
  • Issue detailed reports for each project including process stage until delivery of products
  • Issuing Bill of Quantities
  • Issuing Job nesting reports including production estimated time and raw material stock needed
  • Providing production real vs planned weekly reports

Requirements

  • Background in fabrication design and modelling an advantage
  • A high level of Proficiency nesting DXF, SAT, STP files advantage
  • Have a good understanding of technical drawings, construction methods and engineering principles
  • A good knowledge of Auto-cad
  • Strong planning, organization and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize work under pressure whilst meeting tight deadlines
  • Success in developing healthy, long term client relationships
  • Some experience in Cad technology/Production planning/ product nesting
  • Confident in working with in either AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works or other 3D and 2D CNC software provided by machinery suppliers as Esprite
  • Experience in nesting DXF, STP and SAT files for fabrication is an advantage
  • You must have the right to work in the UK

  • Support senior drafters and engineers in developing detailed mechanical designs and drawings in accordance with Western Global standards and procedures using SolidWorks
  • Utilize SolidWorks PDM workflow process to maintain internal engineering files
  • Model containerised self-bunded fuel storage tanks and produce shop fabrication detail drawings in accordance with relevant standards (UL 142, ULC S601, UL 2085)
  • Work through all phases of production design from concept development to production drawings
  • Interpret PIDs and model piping and pumping packages to produce shop fabrication detailed drawings and production drawings complete with Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with engineering team, BDMs and production
  • Assist production with all design-related troubleshooting, test fitment and inquiries
  • Provide accurate timely designs and drawings through quotation and project phases
  • Assist in ensuring Western Global products and design maintains the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction
  • Be responsible, own and drive the engineering drawing production, from start to finish ensuring all engineering drawings are fully compliant with relevant codes, standards, client specifications, while meeting tight deadlines
