You will be joining the Civil team, with offices in Chur, Winterthur and Zurich, as part of the Road & Rail Business Unit. The unit brings together around 300 professionals across Switzerland and globally with expertise in civil engineering, tunneling and road/rail infrastructure. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience, the team successfully delivers large-scale and complex projects for leading clients in Switzerland and around the world.
Job Responsibility
Preparation of design, construction, and detailed plans for railway civil engineering, road construction, and utility line construction
Modeling of infrastructure projects using Autodesk Civil 3D
Creation and maintenance of project models and digital terrain models (DTM)
Planning and design of: Roads and traffic facilities, Utility lines (water, wastewater, gas, district heating, electrical, and telecommunications)
Development of cross-sections, longitudinal profiles, and standard cross-sections
Ensuring compliance with standards, guidelines, and quality standards
Planning and design of railway alignments and track systems
Quantity take-offs and support with tenders
Coordination with project managers and engineers
Participation in BIM projects and data management
Requirements
Completed training as a drafting technician in civil engineering/civil works, design engineer, or comparable qualification
Experience in railway civil engineering, road construction, and/or utility line construction
Excellent knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D
Modeling of road and rail structures
Application of quality standards, settings, and templates
Creation of utility line models and utility coordination plans
Creation of axes, gradients, and corridor models
Nice to have
Additional training in CAD/BIM
Experience with BIM methodologies and the Common Data Environment (CDE)
Several years of experience in the design of infrastructure projects
Knowledge of Swiss standards and guidelines (VSS, SIA, railway-specific requirements)
Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or knowledge of Autodesk Revit
Working with surveying and GIS data
Understanding of construction processes and planning, with the ability to independently design and manage railway and road infrastructure projects
Interest in digital planning methods and BIM
Precise, structured, and quality-oriented work style, combined with a strong sense of responsibility, effective communication, independence, and a solution-oriented approach, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
