The Cabling Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, build, integration, and troubleshooting of cable assemblies, harness systems, and electromechanical interconnect solutions in support of prototype development and engineering programs. This role works closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support hands-on prototype builds, interpret client designs, identify integration challenges, and provide technical recommendations or design modifications needed to support rapidly evolving product development environments.
Job Responsibility
Support the development, build, and integration of cable harnesses, wire assemblies, and interconnect systems for prototype development programs
Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, bills of materials, and related documentation to support prototype builds and system integration
Define cable routing, connector selection, labeling, strain relief, shielding, and integration requirements for complex electromechanical assemblies
Perform hands-on cable fabrication, prototype assembly, system integration, modification, and bring-up activities throughout the development process
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cable systems into prototype assemblies and support evolving engineering requirements
Troubleshoot cable, wiring, connector, and system integration issues encountered during build and test activities
Identify design, manufacturability, and integration challenges and provide technical recommendations, stop-gap solutions, or design modification feedback when issues arise during development
Support refinement of cable designs and assembly approaches as prototype requirements evolve throughout the development process
Perform cable fabrication including crimping, termination, connector installation, routing, labeling, continuity testing, and assembly rework as needed
Create and refine build instructions, assembly documentation, and engineering processes to support rapid development cycles
Work closely with Engineering Technicians and engineers to support prototype fabrication, testing, troubleshooting, and iterative design improvements
Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences
