Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Custom Furniture Maker to join our premier Calgary workshop. If you are a craftsman who finds beauty in a perfect joint, thrives on technical challenges, and lives for high-end finishes, this is where you belong. Based in Calgary, we run a premier, high-end fabrication shop specializing in bespoke furniture and architectural millwork. We don’t do assembly lines, mass production, or generic box-building. Every project we take on is a unique, premium creation destined for luxury residential and commercial spaces. We are expanding our team and looking for an experienced craftsman who values flawless joinery, understands the behavior of fine materials, and treats woodworking as a true craft.

Job Responsibility

  • Blueprint Translation: Read and analyze architectural blueprints, technical drawings, and design specs to plan out logical, sturdy build paths
  • Precision Milling & Assembly: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble solid wood, high-end veneers, laminates, and specialty materials using standard shop machinery and hand tools
  • Luxury Finishing: Handle meticulous surface preparation including seamless sanding, touch-ups, and detailing to ensure every piece meets showroom standards
  • Hardware Integration: Fit premium architectural hardware, hidden hinges, drawer slides, and custom trim work with absolute accuracy
  • Shop Synergy: Collaborate closely with our design team and fellow makers to solve structural puzzles, maintain a safe environment, and perform routine machinery care

Requirements

  • Custom Craftsmanship Background: Documented experience in custom cabinetmaking and fine furniture fabrication (mass-production or assembly-line experience does not apply)
  • Bench Autonomy: Proven ability to take a custom build from raw material to final assembly completely independently
  • Print Literacy: Strong competency in reading and working directly from technical sketches, design blueprints, and material specifications
  • Equipment Fluency: High-level skill and safety awareness when operating table saws, routers, planers, shapers, and fine hand tools
  • An Eye for Perfection: Exceptional attention to detail, keeping a sharp focus on tight joints, hidden seams, and exact tolerances
  • Safety Gear: Must own CSA-approved steel-toe boots (annual replacement allowance is provided after hiring)

What we offer

  • Competitive Pay: $26.00 – $30.00+ per hour
  • Consistent Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Optional Saturday OT
  • 100% Employer-Funded Pension: Fully secured after 2 years
  • Company-Paid Benefits: Comprehensive health and dental coverage starting after just 3 months
  • Paid Time Off: 2 weeks of paid annual vacation
  • Gear Allowances: Dedicated annual funds provided for both steel-toe boots and prescription safety glasses
  • Apprenticeship Support: We are fully prepared to endorse and sponsor the right candidate for their Journeyman ticket
  • The Location: A bright, organized, fully equipped facility situated in a highly transit-accessible part of Calgary
