Job Description:

As a Buying Assistant, you'll be integral to ensuring the timely delivery of goods at the best possible value. You will maintain accuracy, compliance, and efficiency throughout the procurement process.

Job Responsibility:

Assist in procuring materials, plant, and subcontractor services for ongoing and upcoming projects
Raise purchase orders and maintain accurate records using SICON software
Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, lead times, and delivery updates
Monitor and follow up on outstanding orders to guarantee timely delivery to sites
Support cost comparison exercises and supplier evaluations
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal site teams
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information
Assist with resolving invoice or delivery discrepancies
Provide administrative support to the buying team as required

Requirements:

Previous experience in a procurement or purchasing role, ideally within construction or civil engineering
Good understanding of construction materials and suppliers
Strong communication and negotiation skills
High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
experience with procurement/ERP systems is desirable
Team player with a proactive and flexible approach
