We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our team on behalf of our client in Calgary, Alberta. In this role, you will be the backbone of the procurement process, ensuring that goods, materials, and services are secured efficiently and cost-effectively to meet our operational forecasts. The ideal candidate is a master of vendor relations and a power user of ERP systems—specifically Aquilon—to maintain data integrity and supply chain transparency. As a Buyer for our client, you won't just be 'ordering parts'—you will be building a resilient supply chain that directly impacts the company's ability to deliver high-quality solutions. You will have the autonomy to qualify vendors and the responsibility to safeguard our inventory integrity.
Job Responsibility:
Procurement & Inventory Management: Execute the purchase of goods, materials, components, and services in strict alignment with production forecasts
Maintain all purchasing activities within Aquilon, including saving weekly raw data snapshots from purchasing worksheets
Manage stock code replenishment factors, lead times, and historical pricing records within the system
Oversee inventory adjustments resulting from in-house movements and reconcile deliveries against orders to resolve discrepancies or overages
Supplier Relations & Negotiation: Evaluate and qualify multiple suppliers for all parts to ensure redundancy and protect the company from supply chain disruptions
Negotiate pricing and contracts to optimize company costs without sacrificing quality or availability
Act as the primary interface between suppliers and internal departments (such as Compact Compression) to resolve procurement issues
Manage the return and non-conformance process (RMA) and stay current on policies and regulations impacting purchasing
Tracking & Reporting: Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders, with a specific focus on communicating the status of long-lead-time items to the broader team
Work directly with suppliers to manage order changes, cancellations, and expediting
Provide regular reporting to the management team regarding potential supply chain risks and strategic opportunities
Requirements:
Technical Proficiency: Proven experience using Aquilon (or similar ERP systems) for procurement and data management
Analytical Mindset: Ability to interpret forecasting data and maintain precise records
Negotiation Skills: Strong professional presence with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to manage supplier relationships and internal departmental needs
Adaptability: Capacity to manage moving parts, including expediting orders and handling non-conformance issues in a fast-paced environment
