We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Buyer to support procurement, supplier management, and materials planning activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing inventory, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure materials availability aligns with production schedules and business objectives. This is a temporary position with the potential to convert to a permanent role based on business needs and performance.
Job Responsibility
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for critical materials and services to drive cost savings, quality improvements, and risk mitigation
Lead supplier selection, qualification, audits, and ongoing performance management, including development and maintenance of supplier scorecards
Negotiate complex contracts and long-term supplier agreements to secure favorable terms and foster strategic partnerships
Monitor market trends and identify new sourcing opportunities, including global sourcing initiatives
Collaborate with the Materials Manager and production teams to develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules and procurement plans in alignment with customer demand and operational goals
Analyze inventory levels, usage trends, and forecasts to optimize stock levels, reduce shortages, and minimize excess inventory
Lead process improvement initiatives to streamline procurement workflows and improve supply chain efficiency
Analyze purchasing and operational data, prepare reports and metrics for management, and recommend actions to improve performance and eliminate bottlenecks
Partner with Engineering, Production, Quality, and other departments to resolve material issues and support new product introductions
Drive measurable results in cost savings, supplier performance, inventory turns, and on-time raw material performance
Mentor and support the Buyer by sharing best practices and encouraging professional development
Expedite critical orders, resolve pricing and shipping discrepancies, and ensure timely vendor confirmations
Support team 5S initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
Work with the Materials Manager and team to maintain ISO-related documentation, work instructions, and vendor performance records
Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
At least 3 years of experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, or materials planning within a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated knowledge of sourcing, purchasing activities, purchasing materials, pricing, and shipping and receiving processes
Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience using ERP or related business systems to support purchasing and materials management activities
Effective communication skills and the ability to build productive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
Self-directed approach with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
