Job Description

SP Industries Inc. is expanding our team and have an immediate opening for a Buyer/Planner. In this role, the right candidate will perform all Purchasing and Planning activities that enable the cost effective and timely delivery of materials and services, in an ongoing effort to support new product development (NPD), research and development (R&D), and internal projects to schedule. As a member of the broader Supply Chain team, this role will play an integral part in fulfilling demand by effectively managing the relationship with the corresponding suppliers, working with cross-functional teams within the business, supporting change management activities, as well as end-to-end planning and fulfillment. Candidate must be local to Gardiner, NY or Warminster, Pa.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the Supply Chain representative for assigned Projects, attending any DVM (daily visual management), or Project calls related to obligations
  • Execution of Purchasing and Planning standard work activities in support of NPD Projects and the broader OTD, Quality, and cost to budget goals of the organization
  • Review and analyze MRP requirements against planned order and exception reports to determine actions required against supply and demand
  • Own Supply Chain activities in support of Engineering Change Orders – BOM or WO revisions – reviewing for inventory or open order impact and driving to completion for assigned projects
  • Partner with Engineering, Product Management, and Service on end of life and product obsolescence to disposition existing or remaining inventory
  • Execute and manage purchase order or work order processes, including appropriate documentation, data entry, submission, order expediting, delivery, and reconciliation of related issues
  • Ensure continuity of inventory or project materials in support of OTD and Project Toll Gates
  • Maintain master data
  • Sourcing of new products and potentially onboarding new suppliers
  • Secures competitive quotes to ensure fairness of pricing, timeliness of availability and to maintain source of supply
  • Understanding of critical suppliers
  • maintaining relationships with key suppliers
  • Take the initiative to solve supplier issues and/or part shortages
  • Reviews POs and order confirmations from suppliers for accuracy and/or discrepancies
  • Assist with general tactical responsibilities within the Supply Chain department

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or 5-10 years related working experience
  • Experience working in a global organization or in manufacturing
  • Must have a working knowledge of an ERP system
  • Prior experience with MS Office

Nice to have

  • Professional certification (or working towards), APICS, CIPS, PMP
  • Experience with NPD, R&D, or Project Management concepts
  • Working understanding of MRP and ERP concepts, as related to purchasing, supply and demand, and material and vendor analysis
