The Fuel and Energy Buyer supports the procurement and operational management of marine bunker fuels for over 95 cruise vessels operating in over 800 global destinations. The role will encompass global supply of all compliant marine fuels in a high-pressure, highly regulated, fast paced volatile commodity market- directly contributing to the safe and efficient bunker of all ships. This role focuses on accurate order processing, spot purchasing, contract administration, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Order Management: managing fuel requirements from the global fleet, verifying product availability and quality
Supports in pricing validation for over a $2billion in direct annual spend
Enters internal orders accurately into the purchasing system
Spot Purchasing: Negotiate spot purchases under $1M following approval workflows for all fuel types
Obtain market quotes
Contract Administration and Price validation: Assist in preparing spot & contract documents, perform pricing analysis
Operational Coordination: Learn vessel and port operations
Communication with Chief Engineers, shoreside teams, and suppliers
Support monthly forecast demand planning and continuous improvement initiatives
Compliance & Technical Support: Ensure accurate data handling and timely documentation
Understand ISO 8217 fuel parameters and claim eligibility criteria
Proficient in internal customized fuel purchasing system
Support supplier setup process
After initial training, the role includes rotational 24/7 on-call support for operational needs
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Marine Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
3-5 years in procurement, transportation, supply chain, or marine operations
Preferred experience in maritime or energy sector but not mandatory
Exposure to order management and vendor communication
Basic knowledge of contract administration and purchasing workflows
Experience in handling documentation and compliance processes
Basic understanding of marine fuel grades and specifications
Familiarity with ISO 8217 standards and compliance requirements
Strong organizational and data management skills
Effective communication skills for internal and external coordination
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area
