Operating within an agile, matrix-led structure, they navigate commodity pricing complexities and shifting consumer trends to deliver best-in-class products to major UK retailers. With ambitious growth plans, they are now looking to appoint a high-calibre Business Unit Controller (BUC) to lead one of their most strategic divisions, driving P&L performance, commercial strategy, and long-term customer partnerships.

Job Responsibility

  • Build and strengthen multi-functional relationships with Top 4 UK grocery retailers
  • Anticipate retailer needs & market shifts, positioning your business as a category thought leader
  • Secure and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and long-term growth strategies
  • Develop and execute long-term hedging strategies to mitigate pricing volatility
  • Provide expert market insight, forecasting trends and future-proofing pricing strategies
  • Ensure sustainable profitability, balancing financial risk & commercial opportunity
  • Expand distribution, optimise product mix, and maximise margin & sales performance
  • Lead NPD and category initiatives, ensuring a competitive edge in the market
  • Use data-driven decision-making to balance consumer needs & commercial strategy
  • Operate confidently at Board and Senior Stakeholder level, both internally and externally

Requirements

  • Senior commercial leadership in a Private Label Food business, managing major UK grocery accounts
  • Proven expertise in commodity-driven categories (dairy, grains, meat, poultry, chilled, produce, etc.)
  • Full P&L ownership – Strong financial & commercial acumen to drive EBIT performance
  • High-level strategic thinking – Ability to interpret market trends, pricing dynamics & data to inform decisions
  • Negotiation & influencing skills – Ability to engage and secure buy-in at Board level
