Job Description:

Citibank, N.A. seeks a Business Senior Risk Officer for its Irving, TX location. The role involves providing integrated credit underwriting, identification, measurement, monitoring, and reporting for wholesale credit businesses across the enterprise, ensuring credit risks are effectively managed in line with the bank’s risk appetite and policies.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, monitoring, and reporting for wholesale credit businesses across the enterprise
  • Use results of quality assurance reviews to assess the quality of the group's policies, procedures, programs, and practices as they relate to the management of wholesale credit risk
  • Identify operational weaknesses and risks associated with the function, training needs, and process deficiencies
  • Report results of Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs) and provide feedback, insight, and observations on deficiencies and areas of improvement, while engaging with the management of the respective ICG business area, Independent Risk, and critical partner stakeholders and regulators
  • Support the Head of CCB In-Business Quality Assurance to set the global strategy and coordinate the implementation and ongoing delivery of a robust Quality Assurance function in accordance with the coverage universe
  • Provide effective credible challenge to memo and process quality during QARs to Business Region Heads and Portfolio Managers to ensure that weaknesses in such processes are identified and escalated as appropriate
  • Ensure wholesale credit risks within Citi are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled, consistent with the bank’s risk appetite and all policies and processes established within the risk governance framework
  • Conduct consistent and objective assessments during QARs
  • Perform subsequent follow-ups on corrective actions that were raised during QARs
  • Synthesize and prepare quarterly Quality Assurance Scorecard and report to ICG business management to communicate and measure results and identify negative trends and potential solutions
  • Maintain constant interactions with the respective analysts and team leads to ensure that quality assurance protocols are adequate for all portfolios
  • Support the WCR IBQA function in the establishment of WCR IBQA policies, procedures, risk assessment, and control to drive effective QA coverage and standards
  • Support ICM Head of CCB In-Business Quality Assurance Functional Head to stay abreast of relevant changes to rules, regulations, and other industry news including regulatory findings
  • Support the Global Head of WCR IBQA on internal projects and initiatives
  • Support ICM Voice of the Employee (VOE) initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related finance occupation performing credit underwriting and analysis within the financial industry
  • Evaluating findings within the Credit Assessment process, determining materiality, and partnering with in-line makers and checkers for ongoing improvement, problem detection, and sustainable remediation
  • Ensuring credit risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled, consistent with risk appetite and policies and processes established within the risk governance framework
  • Identifying inherent risks in the credit lending underwriting process to define mitigating controls and ensure effective implementation on an ongoing basis, including validating data from credit approval memorandums and addressing the root-cause for deviations to the policies
  • Evaluating business process controls to assess and strengthen internal controls and improve and protect business performance
  • Performing credit assessments using analytical skills, credit risk ratings, regulatory classification, and credit recommendations based on an understanding of credit risk, internal policies, and procedures
  • Working with credit processes and procedures including completeness of critical steps, information, and processes related to drafting credit approval requests, performing enhanced credit and collateral analysis, assessing classification, proposing risk ratings, and ensuring accuracy of data inputs
