We are looking for a Business Development Officer to build meaningful connections with small and mid-sized business owners in Greenville, South Carolina. This role is ideal for someone who is naturally outgoing, consultative, and skilled at identifying organizations that would benefit from outsourced accounting, payroll, tax, or financial support. The right person will create opportunities through relationship-building, community presence, and thoughtful outreach rather than aggressive selling.
Job Responsibility:
Develop new business opportunities by connecting with small and mid-sized companies that may need accounting, payroll, tax, or related financial services
Build and maintain a strong referral network through local business relationships, community involvement, and targeted outreach
Identify high-quality prospective clients by evaluating company size, business needs, and overall fit for the organization’s services
Initiate conversations with business owners and decision-makers to understand operational challenges and uncover potential service needs
Manage a consistent pipeline of prospects, tracking outreach activity, follow-up steps, and conversion progress
Prepare and present tailored business proposals that align client needs with available service offerings
Partner with internal teams to ensure smooth handoff of new client opportunities and support long-term relationship development
Requirements:
At least 2 years of experience in business development, client engagement, relationship management, or a similar external-facing role
Demonstrated ability to generate opportunities through networking, referrals, and proactive prospecting
Strong interpersonal skills with a consultative approach to building trust with business owners and leadership contacts
Ability to identify suitable clients and focus efforts on opportunities that align with target business profiles
Experience managing a sales or business development pipeline from initial contact through proposal and close
Clear communication skills with the ability to represent services professionally and confidently
Familiarity with accounting, payroll, tax, or financial service environments is preferred
Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while maintaining consistent outreach and follow-through
