Job Description

A well-established nonprofit organization in South Los Angeles is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Business Development / Office Business Manager to help launch, organize, and scale multiple program initiatives. This individual will work closely with the executive leadership team to support the growth and operational management of approximately 15 program sectors serving the community. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional who thrives in a startup-style environment within a mission-driven organization. The right candidate will bring a strong ability to build structure, support new initiatives, and help scale programs that expand the nonprofit’s impact.

Job Responsibility

  • Partner with executive leadership to support the launch and growth of multiple program initiatives and community services
  • Help develop operational plans, processes, and systems to support program expansion
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities across departments to ensure programs are implemented effectively
  • Track program performance, milestones, and operational metrics
  • Assist with business development initiatives, partnerships, and revenue-generating opportunities aligned with the nonprofit’s mission
  • Organize and manage project timelines, documentation, and reporting
  • Support grant initiatives, funding opportunities, and strategic partnerships when applicable
  • Help establish scalable systems and processes as new programs are introduced
  • Serve as a key operational point of contact for leadership and internal teams
  • Maintain strong organization and communication across multiple initiatives simultaneously

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field preferred
  • 4–8+ years of experience in business development, operations management, program management, or startup environments
  • Experience helping launch or scale programs, initiatives, departments, or business lines strongly preferred
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build structure in growing environments
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work closely with executive leadership and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools

  • Work with the European Head of BD and the global BD service line leads, partners, senior lawyers and relevant BD colleagues to develop and implement client focused Corporate and Investment Funds BD plans for the Jersey and Guernsey offices
  • Support annual planning, budgeting and prioritisation for the service lines in these jurisdictions, ensuring activity is aligned with commercial objectives and market opportunities
  • Proactively identify, qualify and help progress new business opportunities, including cross-practice and cross-jurisdictional initiatives with related teams across Ogier Legal and Ogier Global
  • Monitor delivery of agreed activity, track spend against budget and report on progress, outcomes, return on investment and lessons learned
  • Develop and maintain effective target, client and intermediaries lists for the service line, helping partners and senior lawyers identify priority prospects, intermediaries, client opportunities and market gaps and use these to support focused partner outreach and trip planning
  • Produce high quality distribution lists for client mailers, thought leadership campaigns, event invitations and targeted intermediary communications
  • Support commercially focused BD trip planning, including target setting, meeting strategy and messaging, priority introductions, pre-trip briefing and post-trip follow-up to maximise relationship and business development outcomes
  • Work with the wider BD team to facilitate introductions and cross-selling
  • Working with the partners, Head of BD Europe and service line leads, own the BD strategy around priority Corporate and Investment Funds conferences, sponsorships, seminars and webinars, including target audience planning, messaging, partner briefing, follow up and ROI assessment, working closely with the central events, brand and marketing communications teams – these include IBA Private Funds conference and Guernsey Funds Forum
  • Work with the central events team to ensure agreed corporate hospitality events, seminars and webinars are highly targeted and delivered professionally, on budget and in tune with internal best practices
