We're seeking a motivated Business Development Manager to join our team in Sydney and help drive growth across the investment industry. This is a great opportunity for professionals currently working in a fund manager environment ready to step into a new role. The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for generating new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and driving revenue growth for the business. Reporting to the Head of Sales, the BDM will leverage client feedback and insights obtained to identify new product and service opportunities, to enable the business to achieve growth targets.
Job Responsibility:
Work collaboratively with the Head of Sales to shape and execute strategies aligned with Lonsec’s broader objectives, including client segmentation and new business development
Establish, maintain and nurture strong, trusted relationships with Licensee groups and Asset consultants and, in collaboration with other GDG Group sales teams, key stakeholders within large licensee groups, to support Lonsec’s growth
Partner with Marketing to analyse industry trends and client needs, helping inform sales tactics and guide product development initiatives
Manage CRM tools for accurate forecasting, maintain a healthy pipeline, and report against KPIs to drive continual improvement
Work closely with internal teams to foster a positive, client-focused culture while supporting broader business goals and cross-functional initiatives
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce or related discipline or equivalent comparable work experience
Solid background in business development or sales within financial services, with proven success meeting or exceeding revenue targets in regulated environments
Existing Adviser/head office relationships would be preferable
Deep understanding of fund manager research and the broader financial services landscape, applying market insights to identify growth and shape offerings
Exceptional relationship-building skills with clients and stakeholders, supported by strong commercial acumen and communication abilities
Thrives independently in high-pressure, target-driven settings while actively contributing to a collaborative team culture
Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills to build and manage lasting client and stakeholder relationships
Analytical and commercially minded with proven problem-solving abilities
Highly organised, with effective time management to meet deadlines and juggle priorities
