We are looking for a driven and commercially focused Business Development Manager to grow the college footprint across the construction sector. You will play a key role in developing employer partnerships, identifying skills gaps, and creating opportunities for apprenticeships, training programmes, and workforce development solutions. This is a high-impact role suited to someone who understands the construction industry and thrives on building long-term employer relationships.
Job Responsibility
Develop and manage relationships with construction employers (SMEs and larger contractors)
Identify new business opportunities and convert leads into training partnerships
Promote apprenticeship and training programmes aligned to employer needs
Work closely with internal delivery teams to ensure a high-quality employer experience
Manage a pipeline of opportunities, tracking progress and conversion rates
Represent the organisation at industry events, networking groups, and employer forums
Contribute to sector growth strategies and employer engagement plans
Requirements
Proven experience in business development, sales, or employer engagement
Strong knowledge of the construction sector (e.g. trades, contractors, supply chain)
Track record of meeting or exceeding targets
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to identify employer needs and translate them into solutions
Self-motivated, organised, and results-driven
Nice to have
Experience working within apprenticeships, training, or further education
Existing network within construction employers
Understanding of funding or workforce development initiatives
