We are seeking a Business Development Manager to take a lead role in driving our regional growth plans across our Ports and Resources markets. Reporting to the Future Business Director—APAC, you will be responsible for building a strong pipeline of high-quality opportunities, positioning BMT for success in these critical sectors. This is a hands-on role that requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical credibility, and a highly collaborative nature to help us meet our ambitious growth targets in the Ports and Resources sectors.
Job Responsibility:
Lead new business growth by developing new clients and supporting the APAC Programmes team in growing existing business across our Ports and Resources sectors
Identify and lead growth initiatives through campaign and capture management, specifically targeting gaps in our current sector coverage
Collaborate with global and regional teams to develop and execute long-term capture plans that grow BMT's capability and technology in the region
Build a long-term pipeline of high-quality opportunities by analysing market trends, competitor activity, and customer procurement behaviours within the Ports and Resources sectors
Engage with senior Industry stakeholders and Port Authorities to understand market trends and customer needs
Champion BMT’s work winning processes and drive opportunity governance
Contribute to product and capability development strategies based on your intimate understanding of customer requirements
Represent BMT at events, exhibitions, and other activities to promote our brand and position in the market
Requirements:
A relevant Engineering qualification, with experience applied in Ports (either through port operations or in consulting/primes working for ports)
Proven experience in a professional Business Development position (not just technical delivery) with demonstrable evidence of market growth
Outstanding market knowledge of the Ports and Resources sectors, with a preference for candidates who have exposure to Asset Management systems and principles
Strong business acumen and the ability to translate market trends into profitable decisions in a results-driven environment
Proven track record of influencing and motivating cross-functional teams and building effective local and international networks
Excellent communication and presentation skills to deliver complex messages in an engaging, unambiguous, and informative manner
Personal drive and an appetite to grow a successful business
