The Business Development Manager will be a critical driver in our client’s retail growth strategy. Your primary mission is to spearhead the company's entry into the Modern Trade segment, securing listings and managing partnerships with major hypermarkets and supermarkets. Reporting directly to the Business Owner, you will have the autonomy to shape the retail division and serve as the primary architect of the brand’s presence on retail shelves nationwide.
Job Responsibility
Identify and penetrate key Modern Trade accounts (Hypermarkets/Supermarkets) to list the company’s range of fresh produce and soybean-based products
Act as the primary point of contact for Category Managers, navigating complex listing agreements, trade terms, and promotional calendars
Work closely with the Business Owner to define retail pricing, market-entry strategies, and long-term expansion plans
Coordinate with production and logistics teams to ensure the supply chain meets the rigorous fulfillment and food safety standards of retail partners
Drive brand visibility and sell-through by overseeing in-store activations and ensuring optimal product placement
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Modern Trade, Key Account Management, or Business Development within the FMCG industry
Experience in Fresh Food, Chilled, or Perishable goods is highly preferred
Established network and strong relationships with Category Managers in major Malaysian retailers (e.g., Lotus’s, AEON, Jaya Grocer)
A "hunter" mentality with the grit and entrepreneurial spirit required to build a retail presence from the ground up in an owner-led environment
