Job Description

The Business Development Manager – Personal Care is responsible for driving sales growth and market development for active cosmetic ingredients within the personal care industry. This role combines strong technical expertise with commercial acumen to manage a robust sales and opportunity pipeline, achieve annual and midterm growth targets, and translate global business strategies into effective regional execution. The position works closely with global business segments and regional teams, including marketing and applied innovation, and requires an entrepreneurial mindset to identify, develop, and capitalize on market opportunities.

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct regular sales calls and prospecting activities with existing and potential customers to drive regional sales growth and profitability
  • Develop, manage, and grow the project and opportunity pipeline for active cosmetic ingredients across selected business segments
  • Collaborate closely with global business segments, account managers, distribution partners, and cross-functional teams to advance business opportunities
  • Track, analyze, and report business opportunities, identifying optimization and growth potential
  • Support marketing initiatives, including technical presentations and preparation of promotional and sales materials
  • Drive business growth with assigned cosmetic brands and manage selected direct customer accounts or distributors, based on business needs and opportunities
  • Act as a key contributor to selected global business segment teams, supporting strategy development and execution
  • Translate global business strategies into actionable regional plans and lead their implementation
  • Develop deep market expertise by monitoring trends, competitors, product portfolios, and key customers
  • Provide regional market insights to support product development and market expansion initiatives
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and professional associations
  • Serve as a recognized industry ambassador for the company’s innovative and sustainable cosmetic ingredient portfolio

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Life Sciences (Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields)
  • Min 2 years of professional experience in the personal care industry, preferably within technical functions, business development or marketing
  • Background as a cosmetic chemist or cosmetic product developer is strongly preferred
  • Good understanding of skin and hair science, biology, and cosmetic formulation principles, with a strong interest in continuous learning and staying updated on industry advancements
  • Strong knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation manufacturing, regulatory requirements, and claim substantiation
  • Proven ability to identify customer needs and translate product offerings into compelling system solutions
  • Excellent sales, presentation, and communication skills with strong strategic and analytical capabilities
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, hunter-oriented approach to business development
  • Proficiency in standard business software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI or equivalent)
  • CRM experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional and global teams
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple customer projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Willingness to work remotely and travel approximately 20–50% regionally, with occasional international travel

  • ICU & Critical Care Ecosystem Ownership: Develop a deep understanding of the regional critical care landscape - key hospitals, therapy adoption patterns, competitive dynamics, and influential clinicians. Engage directly with senior intensivists, heads of critical care, and hospital procurement leadership to build FME's institutional presence
  • Strategic Account Oversight: Oversee account planning across all key hospitals in the region. Ensure Product Specialists have robust, actionable account plans and hold them accountable to milestones. Step in personally for high-stakes negotiations, tender submissions, and relationship-critical engagements
  • Market Development: Drive therapy expansion beyond existing accounts — identifying new hospital segments, emerging ICU setups, and underpenetrated geographies within the region. Work with the marketing team to execute regional initiatives aligned to national strategy
  • KOL & Institutional Engagement: Build and manage a regional KOL network across nephrology and critical care. Support the development of advocacy programs, clinical symposia, and peer-to-peer education initiatives that strengthen FME's therapy leadership in the region
