We’re looking for an experienced and driven Business Delivery Manager to lead the operational delivery of our Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) services. This is a senior leadership role where you’ll take ownership of multiple service contracts, ensuring high-quality patient care, strong operational performance, and delivery against key contractual and financial targets. You’ll work closely with senior clinical and operational leaders, acting as the key link between frontline services and executive leadership—while building trusted relationships with external stakeholders, including NHS commissioners and partners. As a senior leader within a 24/7 service, you will be expected to work and maintain a visible presence on a regular basis during out-of-hours periods.
Job Responsibility:
Lead all IUC contracts within the portfolio, ensuring services meet customer requirements and contractual KPIs
Provide proactive contract and stakeholder management, escalating risks and reporting performance as appropriate
Work in partnership with clinical and medical leads to deliver high standards of performance and behaviour
Ensure effective workforce planning, rota fulfilment, and recruitment to meet service demand and financial targets
Use accurate management information and data to drive performance and decision-making
Maintain governance and ensure contracts are compliant and aligned with regulatory standards
Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture, supporting accountability and engagement across teams
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning processes
Support and manage direct reports, including participation in on-call and deputising responsibilities
Deliver financial and operational performance targets, including efficiency and cost improvement initiatives
Lead change programmes, contract mobilisation, and business continuity planning
Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships and represent services internally and externally
Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice sharing
Ensure patient safety through effective governance, risk management, and learning processes
Lead people management activities including performance, development, and succession planning
Ensure compliance with regulatory, health and safety, and organisational requirements
Requirements:
Significant senior leadership experience in a complex organisation
Proven track record in operational and contract management within multi-stakeholder environments
Experience leading teams through change and transformation
Experience working with external partners and stakeholders
Ability to manage performance, budgets, and workforce planning
Strategic thinker with strong decision-making capability
Understanding of governance and regulatory compliance
Demonstrates integrity and accountability in all interactions
Provides values-led leadership and supports high standards of performance
Ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams while fostering collaboration and inclusion
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Resilient, with the ability to operate effectively in complex operational environments
Effective organisational and workload management skills
IT literate
Nice to have:
Experience within healthcare or urgent care services
Knowledge of NHS contracts (e.g. APMS, GMS, NHS Standard Contract)
Experience managing large-scale services or business units (£5m+ turnover)
Background in service mobilisation or multi-site operations
