Job Description:

The City of Chandler Management Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Business Compliance Representative. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The City of Chandler Tax and License Division oversees and analyzes the collection and licensing of transaction privilege (sales) and use taxes by the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) and issues business registration and special regulatory licenses. We are looking to fill a vacancy in our Tax & Licensing area of the team. Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. Work will be performed primarily in an office setting, but some work may be performed by visiting a commercial business location.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide general information and taxpayer education to the public
  • Process all business registration and special regulatory licenses
  • Provide customer service to business owners regarding compliance with City and State regulations

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or GED supplemented with college course work in Accounting, Bookkeeping or other Business Applications
  • 2 years of clerical experience in a bookkeeping or accounting environment including some experience with municipal or state regulations
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a subject area related to regulatory oversight by Federal Law (statutes or ordinances) dealing with code and regulatory compliance
  • Previous experience working with accounting software programs
