Amentum are offering an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of IT professionals to work on a range of projects for our diverse client portfolio that covers Critical National Infrastructure, National Security, Defence and Nuclear market sectors. We are looking for a technically focused Business Analyst with experience in digital, data, and enterprise architecture environments. You will support delivery of a UK defence project, operating across the CADMID lifecycle and enabling the development of Defence-wide architecture references, integration frameworks, and data standards.
Job Responsibility:
Elicit, analyse, and manage business and technical requirements across Concept, Assessment, Design, and In-Service phases, ensuring traceability to architecture outputs
Translate complex business needs into structured artefacts including architecture blueprints, data models, integration patterns, and policy/standards documentation
Collaborate with enterprise, solution, and data architects to define Defence-wide reference architectures, integration frameworks, and reusable design patterns
Support the development and maintenance of integration policy, standards, and governance aligned with MOD best practice
Facilitate workshops, Communities of Practice, and stakeholder engagements to drive alignment across Defence stakeholders and delivery partners
Contribute to AI governance principles, data strategy, and horizon scanning activities for emerging technologies
Elicit, analyse, and model business processes (As-Is and To-Be) using appropriate techniques (e.g. BPMN), ensuring alignment with business objectives, data flows, and system requirements, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and optimisation
Requirements:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components
Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate within high-performing teams
Excellent stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies
Minimum 5 years’ experience operating as Business Analyst across digital, data, or enterprise level environments
Proven experience as a Business Analyst within Defence, ideally supporting MOD (e.g., DE&S, Defence Digital) programmes, and familiarity of JSP453 [desirable]
Experience working across system or service lifecycles (e.g. CADMID or equivalent), including requirements management and design phases
Strong experience translating business needs into technical artefacts such as requirements specifications, process models, and data flows
Experience working in data, integration, or enterprise architecture environments (e.g. supporting architects, modelling data flows, defining interfaces)
Demonstrable experience supporting governance, standards, or policy development within complex programmes
