The Business Analyst (Banking Systems) is responsible for leading and coordinating changes across NSCU’s banking application platforms, including DNA, ASAPP, Coconut, iDentifi, Lodestar, Equifax, and other integrated systems. The role provides end-to-end leadership for system updates, requirements gathering, configuration changes, testing, deployments, vendor coordination, and operational readiness. This position sits within the Information Technology functional area and ensures that all system changes are delivered with strong controls, clear communication, and alignment to regulatory, operational, architectural and digital-transformation requirements. Business Analyst serves as the primary liaison between IT, vendors, and internal business units.
Job Responsibility:
Acts as a change leader, ensuring adherence to change management best practices and policies
Lead intake, analysis, and planning for vendor releases, patches, configuration changes, and system enhancements
Maintain a predictable release and key activity calendar and ensure appropriate lead time for internal teams
Assess operational, technical, and regulatory impacts of platform changes
Perform platform operational and administrative duties as required (Install/Move/Add/Change)
Maintains up-to-date platform release process and procedural documentation
Facilitate requirements sessions with Operations, Lending, Finance, Compliance, and other business areas
Document functional and non-functional requirements for system changes and enhancements
Translate business needs into clear technical or configuration action items
Perform or coordinate system configuration updates as permitted by each vendor/system
Maintain configuration runbooks, version control, and deployment documentation
Lead deployments and ensure changes follow IT change management processes
Act as a platform owner within the IT Steering Committee (ITSC) and facilitate ITSC-related discussions
Develop UAT plans, scripts, and acceptance criteria
Coordinate UAT with subject-matter experts across departments
Track and manage defect resolution with vendors and internal teams
Validate production readiness and ensure quality prior to go-live
Act as primary contact for vendor release notes, timelines, defects, and configurations
Escalate issues appropriately and ensure timely resolution
Coordinate multi-vendor dependency changes (e.g., DNA + LOS integrations)
Prepare internal communication for operational teams impacted by system changes
Support SOP updates, training sessions, and frontline readiness tasks
Ensure all changes include clear, plain-language summaries
Maintain an active role in the Change Management, IT Steering, and IT Service Management functions as they relate to the position
Assess impacts of regulatory changes (CUDIC, BCFSA, AML, IFRS9) on banking systems
Support audit requests and maintain evidence for system changes
Ensure configuration, testing, and deployment records meet compliance expectations
Participate in roadmap planning and provide system-level insights for digital initiatives
Recommend process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and system optimization opportunities
Conduct post-implementation reviews to improve future deployments
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Knowledge Management program
Requirements:
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Business, or related field
3+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or configuration-focused roles is required
Experience working with banking/credit-union systems is an asset (DNA, ASAPP, iDentifi, digital banking platforms)
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) is an asset
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent work experience is an asset
Ability to work under rapidly changing conditions
Demonstratable ability to prioritize competing workloads
Strong understanding of system configuration, testing, and quality assurance
Experience with workflow, parameter, or rules-based configuration environments
Ability to interpret release notes, analyze system behaviour, and troubleshoot issues
