As a Data Business Analyst, you’ll play a critical role in defining and delivering products that drive meaningful business outcomes. You’ll be expected to think like an owner—making trade-offs, driving growth, and influencing results across both customer-facing products and internal platforms. In this role, support data modernization initiatives across the organization.
Job Responsibility:
Perform detailed data mapping between source and target systems, defining transformation logic, business rules, and validation criteria
Work closely with data engineers, architects, and subject matter experts to clarify data lineage, dependencies, and quality requirements
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data usage, reporting needs, and key performance metrics
Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metadata documentation
Conduct data profiling and quality assessments to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and anomalies
Define and support data validation and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy after migration
Assist in the design and testing of ETL/ELT processes, ensuring alignment with business rules and technical standards
Support user acceptance testing (UAT) for data-related deliverables by defining test scenarios and validating outcomes
Partner with governance teams to ensure data standards, definitions, and ownership are clearly documented and maintained
Provide clear, structured documentation that can be leveraged by technical and business teams for future reference
Continuously identify opportunities to improve data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility as part of the modernization effort
Requirements:
3+ years of experience as a Data Business Analyst or similar role in data or software projects
Proven experience managing data migration or data modernization projects
Must have strong SQL skills
Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, batch and streaming transformation processes, data governance frameworks (Apache Ranger, Immuta, Unity Catalog), data quality frameworks (great expectations), monitoring and observability platforms (Datadog), cloud providers (AWS, GCP), data platforms and frameworks (Apache Spark, Databricks, Presto, EMR)
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to translate technical concepts into business terms and vice versa
Databricks certification
Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, Notion
Background in data engineering or data analytics is a strong plus
Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments with strict data governance
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
Nice to have:
MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred but not required
