The Business Analyst - API will play a crucial role in the analysis, design, and implementation of API-based solutions within the Banking sector. Candidates should have a minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in the Banking industry, with strong skills in API development, stakeholder communication, and documentation. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or Computer Science is required. The role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure seamless integration and compliance with industry standards.
Job Responsibility:
Gather and document business requirements for API development and integrations
Collaborate with stakeholders (product owners, business teams, developers, and architects) to define API functionalities
Conduct gap analysis and feasibility studies to assess API needs for digital banking services
Identify opportunities to improve customer experience and streamline business processes via APIs
Define API specifications (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML) and data models for seamless integration
Work closely with development teams to ensure APIs align with industry standards (Open Banking, PSD2, ISO 20022)
Define API security requirements including authentication
Assist in designing API error handling and logging mechanisms
Ensure compliance with regulatory and security policies for API-driven banking solutions
Act as a bridge between business users and technical teams, translating business needs into API specifications
Conduct workshops, meetings, and demos to ensure clear communication of API functionalities
Work with third-party vendors, fintech partners, and external API consumers
Prepare detailed API documentation including use cases, request/response formats, and integration guides
Ensure API governance policies are followed, aligning with Open Banking frameworks
Stay updated with banking regulations (e.g., GDPR, PSD2, PCI DSS) and ensure API compliance
Assist in monitoring API performance and analytics, identifying issues and improvement areas
Support post-implementation reviews, API lifecycle management, and continuous improvements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field
Proven experience as a Business Analyst for at least 6 to 8 years of experience preferably in API based Solutions in Banking Industry
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, OpenAPI (Swagger)
Experience with API tools such as Postman, MuleSoft, Apigee, or AWS API Gateway
Knowledge of API security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, TLS, SSL)
Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Basic understanding of databases (SQL, NoSQL) and integration with APIs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficiency in tools like JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, BPMN
Ability to work in Agile/Scrum teams and manage multiple priorities
