Job Description:

School Bus Drivers are responsible for safely transporting children to and from school on a daily basis and must be committed to providing superior service.

Job Responsibility:

  • Drive safely and responsibly
  • be prepared for all road conditions while maintaining radio contact
  • Daily pre-trip and post-trip checks
  • Be on your bus and respond to dispatch on time
  • Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving disciplinary problems
  • Fuel the bus when required
  • Maintain a clean bus
  • Report mileage once a week and pickup applicable paperwork
  • Complete and submit DVCR (defect slip) and unit log book, as required
  • Bring the bus into the shop when requested by maintenance
  • Provide student counts at the end of each month
  • Attend required Safety Meetings during the year

Requirements:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alberta Class 2 Driver’s Licence, including Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) and/or Safety (S) , Endorsement Alberta Driver’s License (training provided)
  • A minimum of 1 year of licenced driving experience in Alberta
  • At least 5 years’ licenced driving experience in Canada or abroad
  • Must maintain eligibility to be insured by MESC’s insurance provider without the Commission being charged an additional premium or surcharge
