The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a Bus Driver at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired located in Jacksonville, Illinois. Under direct supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks involved in the maintenance and operation of the automotive equipment at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI). Drives school bus and/or automobile to transport school-aged children; verifies vehicles are serviced when scheduled and performs simple repairs and adjustments to vehicles as needed. Operates mowing equipment, tractors, snowplows, and other motorized equipment. Completes documents and reports.
Job Responsibility:
Serves as Bus Driver at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) and performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks involved in the maintenance and operation of the automotive equipment
Monitors the ongoing maintenance of State-owned vehicles assigned to ISVI
Performs simple repairs and adjustments to vehicles as needed
Operates mowing equipment, tractors, snowplows, and other motorized equipment
Completes documents and reports, including daily attendance forms, overtime requests, time off requests, travel and expense request forms, emails, etc., utilizing a variety of software and automated computer systems
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Requirements:
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school
Requires one (1) year’s experience in performing a variety of semiskilled mechanical and manual tasks in the maintenance and operations of automotive or related maintenance equipment
Requires a valid commercial driver’s license for a minimum of two years– Class B CDL
Requires a valid passenger endorsement and school bus permit
Requires ability to acquire air brakes certification from Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) within one month of being hired
Must meet Illinois School for the Visually Impaired health and safety requirements
Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check
Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law
