Job Description:

The Bulk Packaging Operator packages bulk gelatin capsules in accordance with packaging instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’S) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements, while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven Core Values such as Sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of your responsibility.

Job Responsibility:

  • Works as a member of the team, following established rotation while focusing on individual responsibilities within each station
  • Maintain and operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Complete documentation required in a timely manner ensuring Good Documentation Practices are followed
  • Follow Master Manufacturing Documents (MMD) to ensure correct supplies and packaging components are used for each order
  • Follow correct parameters to package product within control limits
  • Inspect gelatin capsules for defects
  • Disassemble, clean, and re-assemble packaging equipment
  • Report any deviations found with respect to instructions, process, quality, or materials used
  • Assist with quality and safety investigations
  • Assist with the inspection of equipment and work area for cleanliness, safety, and proper set up prior to the packaging operation
  • Maintain equipment and the work area in a clean and organized fashion
  • Perform regular quality in process checks as specified in packaging documentation
  • Assist in the training of new line operators
  • Thoroughly review paperwork prior to handing in for Lead Hand review
  • Assist with validation studies conducted on the line
  • Report all quality issues to department leadership
  • Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Strictly adhere and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate in the English language, both written and verbal
  • Mathematical and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to learn and use company specific software, such as the Warehouse Management System
  • Previous experience with operation and setup of packaging equipment an asset
  • Previous production and GMP experience an asset
  • Must have the ability to work in and create a team atmosphere
  • Capable of performing all job duties in a fast-paced environment, including lifting up to 11kgs and standing for extended periods
  • Excellent attention to detail and follows directions well
  • Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this job

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience with operation and setup of packaging equipment
  • Previous production and GMP experience
