The role offers the right candidate the opportunity to work on a wide range of transformative residential and regeneration projects across the country and experience the full development life cycle of large scale projects from acquisition and concept through to delivery and operation. The Building Services Engineer will be a part of the Construction Team and will assist in the day-to-day management of matters pertaining to the construction, technical and operational stages of a project.
Job Responsibility:
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Building Services Engineer will have the responsibility to support the delivery of Building Services Systems on designated projects
Support Liaison with the Utility companies to ensure their infrastructural and interface requirements are understood, communicated, and adhered to
Support the tracking of equipment and plant through each stage from submittal approvals through to samples and mock-ups / ordering / FAT's / delivery and quality checking is carefully managed
Support the monitoring of Building Services installation and commissioning works on site against the planned progress requirement of the programme
Support formal snagging, quality walk downs and associated inspection and sign-off of the Building Services Installation
Support the development of site-specific Inspection, Test, Commissioning and Handover Plans with Contractors
Attend and witness on site testing and commissioning demonstrations when required
Support the progressive assembly and approval of the Safety File
Review Building Services Design Drawings to ensure compliance with design specification and guidelines
Collaborating with other participants in design process: architects, structural and, fire consultants
Attending design and contractor site meetings
Ensure Building Services information released for construction has been reviewed by all designers and construction team, amended/approved prior to issue for construction, and is in line with the specification/contract
Monitor, coordinate and control the flow of mechanical design information to ensure the timely release of information for construction activities.
Requirements:
5+ years of post-qualification experience in a relevant area
Experience working in the Residential Sector is essential
Technical Competence through operational involvement in MEP projects
The ability to demonstrate technical and commercial skills necessary to support the management of building services projects
Effective interpersonal skills working in multi-disciplinary teams
Awareness of health and safety policies and practices and have positive safety values and behaviours
Understanding of importance in implementing quality management systems, inspections, test commissioning and handover plans
Demonstrable willingness to take on new responsibilities and the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team within a well-defined project organisation structure
Be a driven proactive solutions & results focused team player, with the ability to adapt to new challenges
A keen interest in the development process and developing skillsets like: project and development management skillset
contractual, commercial and financial aspects of development projects
building & managing stakeholder relationships
Technical knowledge – an understanding of technical principles, construction buildability, technical solutions value engineering would be an advantage
Full clean driving license as some site travel will be required.
