Job Description:

We are currently partnering with a leading housing provider to recruit a Building Safety Manager. In this role, the primary consideration is the safety of our client's customers. As the lead subject matter expert for Health & Safety in Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs), your decisions will have direct implications for the welfare of residents and the financial and regulatory standing of the business.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and maintain specific Building Safety Case Reports for HRBs and provide information to support applications for Building Assessment Certificates (BAC)
  • Influence at senior levels and provide expert guidance to all levels within the organisation
  • Represent the client with external partners including the HSE, Local Authorities, and Fire and Rescue Authorities
  • Play a leading role in delivering resident engagement strategies for HRBs
  • Work with Asset Management and Development teams to maintain the golden thread of information from handover throughout the occupation phase
  • Oversee the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting System and manage customer safety-related complaints

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical role
  • Hold at least a Level 4 qualification in fire safety management or asset compliance (e.g., NEBOSH Fire Certificate or Advanced Fire Management Diploma)
  • Comprehensive understanding of building design, fire strategies, compartmentation, and building fabric
  • Extensive knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements for HRBs and the Building Safety Act
  • Experience using digital solutions to monitor performance and excellent written/verbal communication skills for negotiation and consultation
  • Must hold a full valid driving licence and be willing to travel nationally, including occasional nights away from home
